I could get drunk on tea?

Seriously, in what form? I know rice wine is possible but tea?

Thank you Austin but that demolishes all my correlations. I know nothing about tea beyond tea bags but a teasapoon of instant & a tea bag look to hold similar volumes. Does decaf tea exist?
Never tried coffee till I was in my thirties and needed to be awake at 3AM to fish for trout. Now I awake more zombiefied than human and need coffee to function.

The greatest thing about cold brew is the absence of a lot of the compounds that upset a lot of people's stomachs.

cheap coffee (instant) has many impurities and even dissolves poorly. It plates up a black layer on the mug that takes an abrasive to remove. I'm wondering if one could use cold extraction to make coffee and then heat the result?

Isn't addiction wonderful? You're receiving a doppamine reminder that coffee is your Daddy. I watched an addictions expert talk about everything from coffee & tea to heroin & meth are the same thing. Just plain old doppamine dependence varying only in delivery method and quality.

but.....don't think of being high as unnatural or evil by nature. It's born out in experiments that all animals seek relief from stress. Being prey in nature must be terrifying.
Scientists discovered test animals would universally choose a mind altering chemical (for the doppamine) over food sometimes to the point of dying. Even in smaller nonaddictive doses the choices were the same.

Even an alpha predator lives in fear of injury and age. If most men do indeed lead "lives of quiet desperation" it would seem our sense of well being and perhaps even sanity require some down time to recover.
A normal drinker having a couple glasses of wine is probably better psychologically prepared to resume the wars the next day.

If I'm hospitalized I get no coffee (although some hospitals realized this was foolish) but instead get killer withdrawl headaches caused not by the coffee but rather by my body missing it's coffee fix. Poor Mormons........
They do make decaf tea. I've seen it around but have never tried it.

I'm completely OK with my addiction. I know a lot of people who wait a few minutes before they drink their morning coffee, some wait almost an hour. My eyes aren't open before the mug touches my lips. I love it and need it.
