We blame alcohol for everything. We blame alcohol not the teens for teenage drinking. We blame alcohol not the drunk for drunk driving. We blame alcohol, not the responsible parties for one night stands. Alot of people in Washington State want to keep hard liquor out of grocery stores because kids will steal it. Hello! Where are their parents? Having worked at a convenience store for a few years, I can tell you that out of the dozens of beer thefts, one was by a minor. We shouldn't ban Fords because a few idiots don't know how to drive.

No, but we need to handle the one's that are out of hand. Just like guns, it's not them that's the problem, it's the one holding it. And, here it is: If you ban alcohol, only criminals will have it!

I vote a LOUD ECHOING OBNOXIOUS NO to banning alcohol consumption in public!!

A line in Escape From L.A.: >>NOT verbatim<<
"NO red meat, NO tobacco, NO alcohol, NO promiscuity, NO drugs, NO violence, NO Free Speech, NO Guns, NO dissent, NO (other stuff, etc.)!! --stated by the president--

Snake responds with "Yeah, land of the free!!"
---
I propose that Books (see 1984 by George Orwell for example) and Movies (Too Many with the same NO RIGHTS theme) shall dictate the degenerative course that Humanity appears bent on applying and accepting with open yet bound at the wrists arms. --see the movie Idiocrasy for a probable future--
The Blinders and Gags will become glaringly obvious and some People will be or are already tethered.

Banning (Nice Town/City in southern California) Alcohol from Public view will NOT curb any desire for the Drug just like banning Tobacco in Public failed to stem a flow of People quitting smoking.
I smoke cigarettes and the only ban I'll honor regarding smoking is IN buildings (yet I smoke outside near entrances/exits just to irritate the anti-smokers), but I'll NOT quit smoking in Public or in my transport.

As George Carlin stated (as well MANY OTHERS for decades):
RIGHTS ARE NOT RIGHTS WHEN THEY CAN BE TAKEN AWAY!!
Our rights are man made and as such can easily be eliminated, AND every Country has different rights, some have more, some less.

What other degradations will WE THE PEOPLE have to suffer at the hands of our failing government like we've seen/witnessed in the 20th century??

I vote WE should bring back PUBLIC HUMILIATION as of the STOCKS like merry ol England had a few centuries past.
WE could easily construct such places and the costs would be FAR LESS than more jails and a few days to a week in the STOCKS would more than suffice for many first time offenders.

The government wants to ban alcohol from Public view/places, okay, fine, then if YOU work for the government, YOU will restrict YOUR usage of alcohol in Public, but LEAVE THE REST OF US ALONE!!

There's a lot of good commentary here, both for and against the idea. My personal choice is NO, do not ban alcohol. All we're doing then is creating yet another law that will be ignored by many, and enforced by few. Why don't we enforce the laws on the books, really enforce the laws on the books, and make people responsible for their own actions. If you screw up, you should be punished, and that punishment should be equal for all not enforced based on how much money you have, whether or not your famous, or whether or not your daddy can get you a good lawyer and lean on people who are afraid of making the parent mad! 'Nuff said...

The answer is obvious...NO! The federal, state, and local governments have already stomped on our constitutional rights. This would be another baby step towards socialism.

You can’t legislate morality even though they try!
If there are laws in place to control public intoxication, let that take care of the problem.
So then you can drink in public but if you have too many & get drunk you go to jail.
Most people will learn control this way.
