We turn off the a/c as soon as it's cool enough (usually late October) and leave it off as long as we can stand it, using a variety of fans (we made it to the end of May this year).
Once the daytime highs hit 88-90 degrees, we button up the house and chill.

The deep freezer and a freezer with an external thermostat used as an extra fridge are under windows with fans nearby. During the cooler months, house air is pulled through those windows, taking the heat from the appliances outside quickly. When the a/c is on, a small fan circulates air through the room, keeping the space cool.

The kegerator is in the garage, and has to work hard to stay cold in the summer. There's just not enough room in the man-cave!

Why do you have to do that? That has to be way more expensive.

Pasadena, MD. Our electric averages in the $125-150 range. Our water was $113 last bill but that is for the quarter. There are also 7 of us in the house right now.

Allentown, PA - My electric bill during off summer months as ~$55-65; during summer months ~$90-120 (b/c of the A/C running). That’s ~$0.13-0.14 / kWh. Side Note: My electric on the books is technically coming from Virginia <- Better Prices there. Although, PPL handles all the transmission. My home is a brick ranch house ~1200 sqft w/ 2 people living there. Heating / Hot Water is Oil; everything else is electric. I hope this helps.

Last month the electric was $273.95.
I keep the A/C at 70* and it's been in
the mid to high 90's.

Water and trash pick up are lumped
together, and it was $84.68.

House is pretty old, built in 1945, and
is 882 sqft, 2 bedroom 1 bath.

I'm on budget billing with electric, $155 per month. Gas $25 (using none in summer), $100, winter. Water $30

I loathe the gas companies, we pay $25 per month before using the first therm!!!

I get a discount too. The city gives me 0.54 cents credit a month
in the winter.
