A great hike is to go to Suches, park at Lake Winfield Scott campground, and start hiking. You take the trail out of the campground (starts right at the lake), up to Slaughter Gap, sharp R onto the AT, up and over Blood Mnt (stay long enough to soak up the killer view and check out the rustic stone cabin on top) then down the other side to where the Freeman trail comes in on the right. Then around the base of Blood, connect back with the AT and go L to Gerard gap where you take a R to go back down to the campground. A killer loop trail of 8 or 9 mi. Hiking along creeks, mountain top views, lots of overnight possibilities, just hike it!
