Camping areas..

Looking for some good camping spots, mainly will be in a tent. Would like some lakes, streams to maybe fish. Can you give some good places to go to...

I have been planning on taking the kids up to Sam Houston National Forest, both the Double Lake and Cagle Recreation Areas. And I plan on hiking the Lone Star Hiking Trail which you can camp along at some point once it is a little warmer.

Davy Crockett National Forest near Alto, Texas is a really nice place to camp, fish, and hike. The 4C trail is very nice in the spring.

I have always enjoyed Martin Dies State park near Jasper for a quick trip.

Far outside Houston? My favorite spot in Central Texas is Concan on the Frio. Neils Lodges has great camping too, probably best swimming spot.

Ditto on the Frio an Concan

Fishing takes some work, but there are some Guadalupe bass to be had. A fly rod will also net you some pan fish that will put up a fun fight. When the weather is warmer its hard to beat.

I've been to the national forest in New Waverly - Huntsville, they've got some good spots. And fishing available in Lake Stubblefield.
