Galveston

Where in galveston can I go to drive on the beach and hang out ...was down there this weekend and went south at the sea wall but it seemed everywhere that had beach access only had it for a short span then you had to go out and drive down further. I know crystal beach area, but trying to avoid the ferry...any suggestions?

You need to head west on the seawall, and drive till you get to the causeway at San Luis Pass. Once there, you go off the road and under the bridge and that will lead out to the water. Just make sure to stay off the dunes, hefty fine if you don't.

East Beach sounds like your thing. Take the seawall way out past the turn off for the ferry. You'll dead end into the state park. Its a few bucks to get on the beach, but its got a large section of beach you can drive on. If you go during off times you can even do a little 4 wheeling out there. just don't let the county mounties see you
