There are a lot of great small rural towns with relatively close proximity to Boise/Meridian. Perhaps around Horeshoe Bend, up highway 55 from Boise. Or you could head around Weiser. I was born and raised in Boise. There is probably cheap property up around Donnely, which is close to McCall, but it's pretty snowy in the winter .
you might consider Homedale or Wilder, both are more country land, but not too far out there, really close to the snake river as well if you enjoy fishing :-)
Kuna & star both have a small town feel & are still close to Boise/meridian.. I Live in Kuna & work in boise & its only about a 25 minute drive (35 when the roads are snowy & icy)
I guess we've made our decision. We're going to move to Grants Pass, Oregon. It's where my wife feels most comfortable and at home. So come Spring, it off to Oregon.
I want to thank everyone who so graciously offered their input.
Meridian is a great area. Boise is a stone's throw away and 5 min. gets you into the country. All seasons represented well. Not too much rain. Much more conservative atmosphere without all the liberal crap you find in Oregon or Washington. 5 years max and I'll B there.
