Guess I would be North Central then. I'm about 35 miles due north of Peoria.

My wife and I are considering moving to Springfield, how is the economy there? She is finishing nursing school, so I cant imagine she will have any issues getting a job. I on the other hand have a business degree which equates to a job in banking. I am a natural sales person and would gladly get back into some sort of B2B sales, car, furniture, etc... whatever is available... I just worry that the IL economy is in a bad place, thus putting stress on the sales industry.

Any input would be appreciated.

Springfield's economy is better than most places. The majority are employed by the State or the hospitals. State employment has gone down in recent years but those in the Union are safe for now.

Springfield did not suffer near as bad as the larger cities when it comes to the real estate market

Good to know. I was raised in Springfield until I was 12, so I am fairly familiar with the city. My dad spend 45 years in Springfield, and still owns one of the small factory houses in Southern View... within walking distance of Cozy (mMmmmm... double cheese and a cozy dog :drool So I have been back a dozen times in the last few years... just didnt pay attention to the economy. The city is definitely growing and looks to be somewhat healthy... I know the hospitals are good in Springfield, so my wife will be good... I have actually been considering joing the pipefitters union to begin my apprenticeship... so that may be a good avenue... otherwise, I can "sell snow in the winter" if I need to.

Thanks for this input.
