Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. I have family buried there. Sunsets by the main American flag are beautiful.

Ferne Clyffe State park is great. Bed and Breakfast/Antiquing in Cobden area was great, Grew up near Champaign, the Natural History Museum and Lake of the Woods park in champaign is nice too.

Garden of the Gods park in southern Illinois....went there quite a bit in college the outcroppings of rock cliffs make for some spectacular views. It was a great escape from the Design studio at school.

Since everyone keeps mentioning places in Shawnee I guess I'll throw in with Jackson Falls. Its beautiful and has some great rock climbing.

Fall Creek, South of Quincy is a neat place to do a short hike and picnic.
