Outdoor shooting in Northern Illinois

I am looking for an outdoor shooting range in Northern Illinois. I live in DeKalb County. Does anyone know where I can shoot? Thanks for any suggestions.

Thank you for the information. It's a ways from me but just might be worth the trip.

What I really like about Buffalo is the plinking pit. Ive seen some killer hardware out there.. Barrett 50cals, 50cal Beowulf, fully auto stuff.. After seeing the Beowulf, I plan on picking one up this winter.

I would love to see a .50 cal in action. Just to witness the power of that round would be a treat.

I went shooting with a friend in Cali that had a S&W 500. It was an awesome gun to watch him shoot. I was too chicken to give it a try.

Aurora Sportsman's Club. Kind of pricey to join (I haven't), but they may have some open range days.

Thanks for the tip. I did look into them. I didn't see any open range days and they were quite pricey.

I think that they have one or two open range/recruitment days a year. You have to really keep an ear to the ground to hear about it.

I agree on their prices. That is why I have not signed up. I did do a CMP shoot there once, since they allowed me to bring my own M1.
