I don't know if they're still doing it, but Prairie Creek Park was well known in this area for making maple syrup. The have sap lines running all over the park.


And something i didn't know was just how thin the sap was. It flows like water, even in the fall...

Ya. A lot of the parks still do it. We don't run lines from the trees. We hang "bags" on them and walk around collecting the sap. In fact, we'll be tapping the trees tomorrow in this bit of a break in the weather. It's time to get the season underway!
