Father's Office is great, but I think their beer list is what puts them on the map. Nothing washes down a burger better than a solid pint or three.

Another good one: THE GOLDEN STATE (323) 782-8331 Good beers too.

Also a vote for Umami: Umami Burger Unfortunately no beers.

Kind of a weird place, but Hinanos in Venice on Washington Blvd. It's a dive bar, but one of the best burgers I've had in LA. Only drawbacks, cash only (ATM inside) and only beer on tap. No hard alcohol.

Apple Pan, Hinano's and Father's Office are all great choices.. for some reason I "like" The Counter but don't love it.

Word to wise however.. don't go to FO and try to order it 'your way'.

OK, finally made it to The Ranch... GREAT burger, if a bit pricey, and a fair way to go (In and Out and Fuddruckers are closer..). Need to try their roast beef and chicken sandwiches (and the catering menu looks great).

The Counter was just...ok... the burger was cooked to order (medium rare, pink), but had no juciness at all. And paying extra for condomints past the first two? yeah, riiight.

The Munch Box... Not sure WHY it's a cultural landmark (yes the roof of the building IS a bit slanted?!?) but the food was totally forgetable and the service poor...

I haven't made it to Fathers Office yet, but friends went and said it was EXPENSIVE and they only serve it THEIR way! (I prefer it MY way thankyouverymuch!)

My Favorites:

1. Golden State on Fairfax
2. Lucky Devil's on Hollywood
3. Umami (several locations)
4. Hungry Cat in Hollywood.

Most of these places have a good beer selection as well, with Golden State as my favorite in that regard.
