Diners, Drive-ins and Dives -- LA

Anyone have a list of all the places Guy visited in LA?

Personally, his batting average hasn't been great, but I am hoping to give it another shot.

Mad Greek (Baker, CA) was good, but not the best I've been to.

As much as I wanted to like Philippe's, I didn't see the big deal. The sandwich was dry even though we said "double dipped". I did love the mustard though.

I wish I could find a diner locally that compares with some of the mid-west diners Guy goes in to!

I believe he went to Schooner or Later in Long Beach. I grab breakfast there all the time. Great food.

How in the world is Baker considered LA?

I could have sworn I posted about this, but I've been to several of the places.

Jay-Bee's BBQ is pretty close to my house and I go there somewhat regularly. Although really I'm looking for a place that does Carolina BBQ (i.e. Lexington style or similar) but so far haven't had much luck.

Nickel Diner is a favorite among my friends for a post-debauchery breakfast.

Fab Hot Dogs is probably my favorite hot dog place in LA, although it's in Reseda and I almost never go up that way.

I see looking on their list that Gaffey Street Diner in San Pedro is there...pretty close to me but never been there. I guess I'll give it a shot sometime soon.

Sorry, multiple thoughts at the same time.

To clarify: I live near LA. I want to check out a couple more of these places, but Guy isn't rocking a very good track record with me - based on my experiences in LA and Baker.

He went to the North End Cafe in Manhattan. This place is really, really good, but parking is tough if you don't live in the area, and finding a table for more than two people can be difficult.
