In addition to everything else already mentioned, I'll tack on Festival International (festivalinternational.com) in Lafayette, LA, which happens the last weekend of every April. Great food, beer, and spirits, musicians from all over the world at multiple outdoor stages, arts, crafts... and entry is free!

A lot of places have diverse cultures. That's what makes this country what it is. I love travelling in the US and taking the road less travelled, experiencing the local flavor. I was born, raised, and live here in South Louisiana and I love it here. What I love about Louisiana are the people here. They are the reason the food is so good, the music is unique, the festivals are so enjoyable. God has to take credit for the beautiful moss covered oaks, the swamps and bayous... Bienvenue en Louisiane!

OMG! The food! Great seafood anywhere along the lower part of the state like Lafayette, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge, New Orleans and on and on!

Oh...forgot to mention the fishing! Again along the lower part of the state is the best. In the brackish waters you can catch almost anything...bass, speckled trout, redfish, flounder you name it. You will almost always limit out too. If you like offshore fishing, rent a charter boat!

@ JLCinLA,

I'm in Canada and just came across your post/question.
I noticed your pic.. a 4x4'er ehh? Well then all I have to say is MUDFEST 2011!!
Home (click link to go to http://www.louisianamudfest.com/)

All the info is there and there are even vids of Youtube. It's in Colfax, which is right of I49.. then you could head down to Baton Rouge then New Orleans.. or head up to Dallas.. via I49 the I20(West)

I have actually decided from 2011 to 2013 to travel to all the 4x4in Festivals, mudpits and all. Canada and USA then Maybe Mexico! lol

There is a group of us driving to all of 'em with our custom 4x4's..

Good Luck!
Please give me one good reason to visit Louisiana-muddy-truck2.jpg
