Well, Maine should speak for it self.....but I'll throw a few in....

Great fall colors, some of the best coastline in the United States, great off-roading....clean air.....

I saw your thread over in the MD forum. I live in MD but grew up in Maine - let's just say that everything that Maryland has Maine has better:

Crabs - Bah - Have a Lobster
Baltimore - Ha - Maine doesn't Have Baltimore....
The O's? - Make a sojourn to Boston while you are here and see The Red Sox play
Beaches? Well ok so there are more sand beaches in the MD area - but they ruin them with Boardwalks, and No dogs on the beach, and Don't play frisbee, and you can't surf here and - Maine has the most beautiful seacoast in the country (and I've seen most of the rest of it to compare...)

Seriously - Maine and New England in general are full of great stuff to do. It would be well worth your time to come visit. Take a few days in Boston for some history and sight seeing, then head up the coast, Hit L.L. Bean to say you've done it, visit Camden and Rockport, Visit Acadia, Drive to Baxter State park to see a moose and experience the largest uninhabited wilderness in the lower 48 (really - Natl. Geo did an article a few years ago). Continue on to the White Mountains of NH - clear streams, glorious views and some great hiking and rock climbing etc..

You'll thank yourself if you do.
