It's hard to screw up lobster, crab legs, and corn on the cob, so I will respectfully disagree with you that the food sucks. It can get a bit pricey but unless you're buying wholesale and cooking it in your backyard, for lobster and king crab, it's to be expected. At the Barking Crab you eat on a picnic table on a dock over the water, they often have live music...but it does get crowded sometimes. The food (that I have had) is good and the atmosphere is unique and VERY summery. Tell me another local seafood place where you can eat literally on the water and I'll check it out. If it has better food, prices, and atmosphere than the barking crab, I'll LOVE it!

If I'm being greedy and choosing a place just to make me happy, I have to get the porterhouse at Gibbet Hill in Groton, MA. If I'm going for something that will make everyone happy, I'll go to Fire and Ice in Cambridge or New Ginsu in Watertown.

Love the Horseshoe Pub in Hudson. Great food and tons of good beer on tap.

OK - I get autologged out way too fast on this site. I just lost a pretty long post for this thread.

I like the Barking Crab despite the price and tourist trappings.

Best dining experience in Boston was at Ambrosia on Huntington, which no longer exists. These days I just go to Fleming's Steakhouse or Maggiano's depending on the company.
