I haven't enjoyed many brew-pubs in Michigan, then again I've not been to that many.
As for beers,
Bell's Two Hearted is great, Crooked Tree is amazing too while Founders Dirty Bastard is godly (and can give you some god awful hangovers).

There are quite a few good breweries in Michigan that are worth checking out whether you're a local or a visitor. Check out the Beer Mapping Project for a pretty extensive list.

Below are just a couple that I've really enjoyed.

Traverse City Area:
Shorts - Bellaire, MI
Right Brain - Traverse City, MI
Jolly Pumpkin - Traverse City, MI

Grand Rapids Area:
Founders Brewing - Grand Rapids, MI

Metro Detroit:
Dragonmead - Warren, MI
Atwater Block Brewery - Detroit, MI

Battle Creek:
Arcaida - Battle Creek, MI

Dark Horse in Marshall is awesome. Double Crooked Tree and Beat Your Wheat are awesome beers. Arbor Brewing has some great beers as well. I really need to get to West Michigan to hit up the breweries out that way (Bells, etc)

HopCat as a place to drink is unmatched. Their own beers not so much. Not terrible, but not great.

Frankenmuth Brewery has a perfect combo of a great looking place and outstanding beers.

Redwood Lodge has a look a lot of women and hunting men love, and I like--plus award winning beers.

Two Hearted is pretty darn good.

Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout - Hands down, the most delicious beer I have ever tasted!

My buddy makes a Hoegaarden clone that is the most fantastic Belgian Wit I have ever had. I tried an all-grain version of it. Bottling it tomorrow.

I was in Battle Creek a couple of months ago for a little mountain biking and we stopped by Arcadia for some dinner and a few beers. Does anyone know if their beers are available outside of Michigan (I live in Indianapolis)? I really enjoyed several of them and wouldn't mind trying to find them again.
