A world of it's own a slower pace of life with vast amounts of open land, a must visit for a week or two for a vacation.

Its definitely a change of pace from the typical big city. On that note I still enjoy going to school there and when I'm back at home I wish I was back in the UP

A great place to live. If you need a big city there are plenty close by. I spend lots of time in Wisconsin since those cities are closer than lower Michigan. My son went to Ferris and it took 7 hours to get there. Now he is in Chiropractor school in Davenport, IA and I go through 3 states and still get there in 6 1/2 hours. I love the pace of living in the UP.

I lived in Michigan for most of my life unitl I moved out here to Vermont 4 years ago, and I have never been farther north than Traverse City.
I had no idea this thread would be so popular when I made the original post...

The UP is great, it's just a long drive if you're from lower michigan, so I don't make it up there too often

I can’t get enough of the UP, Ontonagon, Copper Harbor and on and on. Never been to Isle Royale, I think I need to get there.

You can always tell those that live in MI from other state, Just ask them "Where they live" and they point to their hand...
And sadly I've lived in MI my whole life and never been to the UP, but that is set to change this year..
