Harrison area. Family has a cabin on a chain of lakes up there. Not high end by any stretch of the imagination but a great place to just escape for a week.

When i was younger i grew up in Hamtramck.(born in 1973) There was 3 friends that had "Cabins" one was located on an inland in Pontiac Lake, One had another just north of Rochester on some lake and the 3rd had one somewhere by Highland area. I think all 3 of them were considered up north.haha it wasn't even an hour drive!

When i say up north we head to Au Gres Michigan. it's off Saginaw bay 1/2 way between standish and tawas.

We live in Fairview, that is near, not much, 1 hr from West Branch, 1 hr. from Houghton Lake, 1 hr l5 min from Gaylord, 1 hr. from Alpena, 1 hr. from Grayling. We came from Sterling Hgts. ll years ago and have no desire to move back. We do not like Traverse City anymore its like going downstate, too commercial, too much traffic, can't see the Bay anymore for all of the highrise motels on the water.
