I have central heat run on gas and a ceramic space heater. I've always heard that keeping the heat on 68 and running a space heater in whatever room you're in. But I've told some people this and they look at me like I'm crazy. I basically don't want a $200 energy or gas bill and I want to save energy, but I also want to be warm. Looking for any advice.
Sweatshirts and blankets? Space heaters word good... as long as you get a decent one. I wouldn't use one of those $20 ones from target. They don't distribute the heat evenly.
I wear a sweater and keep my heat at 65. I don't like to be any warmer that that.
The upstairs tends to be a little warmer with the radiator heat. It's a old house and there's really no way to balance out the heat so I just keep the downstairs cooler.
When I got home it was PJ pants, a long sleeved shirt, and wool socks, temps at 68. Of course, this was before we started a family. Now it's a constant 72 upstairs and 68 downstairs.
