I biked across Minnesota last year. It was pretty fun. I've also biked across Iowa three times, and next summer I'm biking across Michigan.

EDIT: for some reason I thought you were asking about a bike trip across MN. Ignore my post.

I'd say Sudan for the Sudan Mine and Chisom to the Iron World.

I got pictures with the JGG & Sprite both - just cuz....

I enjoyed the Spam museum (& gift shop)

MN has a lot of good museums and history centers. If you are into that at all start at the MHS website: MNHS.ORG | Minnesota Historical Society

I recommend the North Shore as well. Multiple beautiful parks and campgrounds all the way to the Canada border. Hiking the Superior trail was awesome.

I also always found driving out on Minnesota point in Duluth pretty cool. You can drive about half way out and then hike all the way to the point. There is a pretty cool lighthouse just across the harbor inlet on the Wisconsin side (Wisconsin Point). The seaplane airport is pretty cool too if your into airplanes (Sky Harbor Airport).

The Sudan Mine and Underground Physics lab tour were very cool.

Make sure to hit the Arrowhead region during the summer - there's a festival of some type almost every weekend.
Check the Ely Chamber of Commerce site for a calendar.

Ely.org (chamber site) is a great site to check out if you are headed up this way!
