What do you do in the Fall to get ready for Winter?

Especially homeowners, but anyone have any fall/winter rituals that they want to pass along?

Winterize the boat and small engines on the property. Drain the outside hoses and such. Put up Christmas lights because I hate doing it when it's cold. Drink beer.

Agreed, drink beer.

Oh along with draining water hoses, shutting off outside water sources, laying down winterizer fertilizer, and covering the ac unit.

-Fill the snowblower with gas, make sure it runs
-put weather "plastic" over the windows
-start brewing a nice nut brown ale to be ready by Christmas

I would go with a nice Braggot. Higher alcohol content and you can make it taste like heaven.

Drain most of the gas from all tanks & add Stabil. Brew a batch of Porter. And if I get to it, put the snow blower on the tractor BEFORE it starts to snow.

-Winterize all of the small engines minus the snowblower
-Make sure the snowblower works
-Plastic the windows
-get the boiler checked out.
-Make sure the kerosene heater works to ensure indoor winter brewing
-Tuck the motorcycle in the corner and cover it
-Hang the bikes out of the way
-drain all the hoses

I cut a lot of wood in the fall, so i don't have to pay to heat my house all winter, along with winterizing all the small engines, and getting the snowmobiles ready. And i get all my ice fishing stuff ready, it doesn't look like we will be out on thanksgiving this year though, hopefully before Christmas!
