Republicans want a healthy economy ...that is what will help the most. The tea party wants to set us free from huge government...
I don't see how that's bad.

no the republicans don't, they want an aristocracy, voted in due to americans siding with the side that says god more. Jesus did MUCH MUCH more than encourage volunteering, he directly encouraged wealth redistribution (and not poor to rich like republicans want, but rich to poor).
Yes, I am sure, and you saying this shows me you have little understanding of what jesus and the bible teach, an Atheist apparently knows more about your religion than you do (which might be why I am an atheist). Yes these teachings are NOT popular now, but they are still in there (among many other quotes), If you read the bible with an open mind and don't try to fit jesus into what mold you want him to fit, you will see he would probably be labeled a communist by today's standards.
for example there was the story about jesus and the prostitute and jesus let the prostitute get her water first because she had just as much right to...... you think that would go over with today's republicans?
Mark 10:21-22 Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.

The above quote is greatly ignored by today's christians who are "me, me, me but I give my 10% so I bought my ticket to heaven"

Mark 12:41-44 He sat down opposite the treasury, and watched the crowd putting money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which are worth a penny. Then he called his disciples and said to them, "Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the treasury. For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on."

This suggests the rich should pay more as a percentage

Luke 14:12-14 He said also to the one who had invited him, "When you give a luncheon or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors, in case they may invite you in return, and you would be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind. And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you, for you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

this one is pretty obvious

Acts 2:44–45,Paul
“And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common; and they began selling their property and possessions, and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need.”
Overall it is pretty sad how a group of people can claim to believe and worship a communist while calling a middle of the road politician a communist and mean it in a bad way. To hate communism is pretty much hating jesus's teachings. Again the connection may not be favorable now, but you can't logically argue it is not there.
