Another 1776: Would An Armed Revolt Work Today?

A timely article, seems that Jefferson's criteria was;
Quote:
The government becomes destructive of the proper ends of government which are the protection of life, liberty and property and/or pursuit of prosperity. This does not mean that a government should be abolished if it fails to perfectly protect these foundational rights. Such a principle would lead to chaos since no government can possibly protect us perfectly.

The key word is destructive.

Probably not.

One has to understand the times and technology of the original revolution. Only a small percentage of the population supported the revolution - but they were the people who provided the food and goods needed to keep the nation going.
