just like everything swinging 100% to either side is usually a bad choice, we need a mix. pure capitalism would leave the sick and elderly dying on the street if they had no family willing to take them in and would paralyze business due to lack of standards/protections and pure "socialism" or "communism" has a multitude of problems including the lack of a direct reward for efforts.

generally we need both the drive of capitalism but some of basic safety nets of communism (such as medicare/social security and general education/healthcare) as they help keep the economy stable and civilized
