If you thought SOPA/ PIPA was bad check out H.R. 1981 Protect children from Porn act. Right Oh yeah sounds good right who doesn't want to protect the children. This bill would require your ISP to track and store for up to 18 months EVERYTHING YOU do on the internet. Email, web sites, passwords, ip addresses, they could track you everywhere. Not just the gubberment either we are talking anyone who wants to sue you can gets these records. Going through a divorce Your wife's divorce lawyer can get your records then show you visit a radical right wing home grown terrorist web sites like TFF.

Here is a short exerpt from the bill.

A commercial provider of an electronic communication service shall retain for a period of at least one year a log of the temporarily assigned network addresses the provider assigns to a subscriber to or customer of such service that enables the identification of the corresponding customer or subscriber information under subsection (c)(2) of this section.

well some of that is overblown, from what I have seen it is just a record of what IP address is linked to what account at a specific point in time and can only be accessed by law enforcement, one of your articles even states this correction, I assumed this was something that most internet providers were already doing.

what bothers me most is related to the last part, they "should" secure the records, but no guidelines for security or real punishments if they don't, so if the records did slip out and have a serious impact of privacy loss for the users, the users will likely just get a few months of credit monitoring..... businesses need real regulations on security otherwise they will just do the minimal amount.
