Can't treat it as a household budget until the interest rate on all that debt is zero. With 0% interest, that debt load makes a hell of a lot of sense.

I love these conservative republican simplistic "stick figure" metaphores. Apparently, these guys think that this country should have no expenses or "sewer"........... Humans always generate sewage.... This country was in debt before it was a country. It's always been in debt since. We spend more on military than all the other countries combined. What about the highways we all use? The power dams that we built? Schools? Subsidies we pay to corporations? Sure, you can remove the sewage, but it still pours in. You can redice the sewage, but it will always pour in! Just ask Ronald Reagan... He drove up an absolute record debt at his time. Repubs didn't form teaparties back then. What's with that? I'm still waiting to read your posts about the debt from the Bush years....... huh? I strongly suspect that it's just because the Dems are in charge and doing a great job! Mitt was right about one thing though......... We need more people working and paying taxes.

I believe we've had this discussion before, but what the heck.... let me just say that our country was in debt before we were even a country!!! NO PROBLEM. We racked up massive debt during the devepment of the atom bomb, NO PROBLEM, and certainly during the Reagan years with star wars........ AGH....NO PROBLEM!. SO!Tell me now..... Can you prove to me that you were as concerned about the debt during Reagans record debt at that time? How about when Bush was signing off on the TARP money to bail out the frigging banks and insurance companies.............forums and the internet were around at that time? Can you direct me to some of your posts at that time, that were even CLOSE to the ferver you display here.... or is it just now that some good looking centist black man who happens to be charged with the horrible crime of being born in Hawaii? Seriously. I'm just curious.

After 4 days, I think it's fairly obvious that this is more about a democrat black man being in charge, than the national debt. On this note, it was pointed out on Politico, that the whole teaparty movement is verging on imploding from lack of support.

It really needs to. We need two relatively sensible parties, not one somewhat tolerable party and one brain-dead cuckoo party.
Actually, what we need is an electoral system that makes it feasible for third parties to exist.

We do need a third party, name calling is childish what we face is a debt that will never be paid though few of either stripe will admit it. When Obama says we have to pay our bills he cunningly avoids the whole truth which is, "Those ole mean republicans don't want me to borrow enough money to pay our bills." Someday we will have borrowed so much that our bonds and T bills will no longer be sought. I don't know at what point confidence will be lost, but that is what we are betting our future on. Meanwhile the debt keeps rising and only the interest is being paid (and 41 cents on the dollar of that is borrowed money).
