They are neither friends nor allies but they gots lots of OIL.

For me it's not ISM against ISM, it's divergent cultures unsuited to the cohabitation of this planet.

Pretty much everyone else has a milder take on this but I want them all dead.
Death of the 15th century culture is the solution. Plant a couple bases in the middle east, expose middle eastern culture to The Land of the Big PX, wait 50 years, and radical Islamic fundamentalism will be a tiny fringe group.

Too many problems with overt genocide.

I think we just tried that.

Friends who traveled to the Middle east tell me Arab men gather in internet coffee houses to watch Western porn. They love to use cell phones to detonate IED's.
Judging how they embrace Western technology I doubt we'd enjoy 50 years of watching Bedouins discover life without sand in their skivvies.

See, that's what I mean. Cell phones aren't supposed to be used to detonate IEDs. We need to teach them about Angry Birds.

That, and show them how to treat a lady right.

The assault on Lara Logan got coverage on how Egyptian males regularly sexually harass women and blame the women for it. I don't think these clods ever experienced a "teachable moment".

I was thinking more about the women. Teaching them to raise their standards and put those "clods" in their rightful place.

Or that there are plenty of americans that still believe that ridculousness.... we meddle in world affairs, provide guns and warships to some and blockade others, we can't do so without making enemies, And our irrational support of israel is a major issue in the middle east. We support them and as such we will suffer the consequences... They don't hate us because we are american, they hate us for our support of israel

GWB was too stupid to realize that we are not at war with terrorists. We are at war with Moslems. Our first, our oldest and our only permanent foreign enemy is Moslems- beginning with the Barbary Pirates and continuing to the present day. We don?t have to worry about destroying guerrillas as long as we destroy the culture that produces them.
The real problem is religion in general when you boil it down...... we as a society have learned over a great period of time the religion needs to be subdued and we excluded it from government after seeing past mistakes.... they have not made that leap yet in most cases

Excluding religion from government is not part of America?s heritage.

Several of the colonies that later became the United States were legally established in part for the purpose of spreading Christianity in one form or another.

When the 1st Amendment was ratified several of the states had established churches that were supported by tax money. New Hampshire?s government-sponsored church was still around until the U.S. Supreme Court struck it down in 1940s.

You couldn?t hold any public office, not even so much as a notary public, in the state of Maryland until the 1960s if you didn?t declare that you believed in the Christian Trinity.

state government does not equal federal government besides under the constitution it was illegal, just because it was accepted doesn't mean it was right, just as slavery and restriction of women's rights to vote were done they were not legal according to the constitution.

By that argument, Freedom and Liberty aren't a part of America's heritage, as we tolerated and regulated slavery.

Equality isn't part of America's heritage because we once considered pale, monogamous, heterosexual males superior in all respects to any other classification.

I wonder how long it will be before America's heritage of religious interference in government is generally considered in the same light as America's heritage of human rights violations.

Personally, I'd rather focus on America's liberal heritage, where we continuously re-evaluate our past actions and work toward improving ourselves, rather than allow ourselves to become conservatively mired in the status quo.

Government-sponsored churches in individual U.S. States were not outlawed by the Bill of Rights of the federal constitution. The First Amendment says "Congress shall make no law...". The federal Bill of Rights was not binding on the states until the U.S. Supreme Court said it was: Incorporation of the Bill of Rights - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
