I have been all over the U.S. and our Zoo is in the top 2 best all time Zoos. Way worth driving out into the middle of nowhere to see. We also have CORN! Who doesn't love corn. Mmmm its in everything.

Toad Stool Park near Crawford, Ft. Robinson where Crazy Horse was killed. That part of the country is rich in history. I grew up about 16 miles SW of Crawford. The Pine Ridge area is very pretty, and there are many other attactions as you wind across Nebraska. Ash Hollow State Park, where the Oregon Trail wagons descended into the North Platte Valley, at Windlass Hill. North Platte, NE, the home to the worlds LARGEST rail road switching yard. Also, home to Buffalo Bill Cody. Stur Museum, and a ton of other attractions await.

I live in Michigan, but grew up in NW Nebraska

If you like beer we have some great microbrew in the state.

* Empyrean Brewing - Lincoln
* Gottberg Brewery - Columbus
* Jaipur Brewing Company - Omaha
* Lucky Bucket Brewing - La Vista
* Modern Monks at Misty's - Lincoln
* Nebraska Brewing Company - Papillion
* Schilling Bridge - Pawnee City
* Spilker Ales - Cortland
* Thunderhead Brewing - Kearney
* Upstream Brewing - Omaha

Most of them have websites with the times of public tours. Some are brewpubs and have great food, others are small brewery operations only.

I'm originally from Nebraska and have made it a point to visit a brewery or two each time I'm back - seems like there's a new one every time! Too bad they're all pretty much on the eastern side of the state (along with all the people).
If you go out west - must see Chimney Rock and maybe even Carhenge?

Carhenge was once looked at with disdain by the Alliance city council and several Alliance residents. They considered it an eyesore, and wanted the guy that did it to either removed all the cars or put up a wood fence barrier to shield the view.....until all the tourists started coming to see the full scale replica of Stonehenge. Now they have a Carhenge festival, and it is one of the main sights to see as you travel across the United States.

Center of the States

There's a pretty amazing local music scene in the Lincoln and Omaha area as well.

The drover steakhouse.

Their whiskey marinated filet is probably the best I've had.
