If you live in the northeast and have never been to the Keene Pumpkin Festival, I highly recommend it! Every year they break the Guinness Book of records for most Jack-O-Lanterns and it is going on the weekend of October 16th.
As a Keene State Alum, I miss that area a lot. If you get up there for the weekend, be sure to check out the foliage from the top of Mt. Monadnock. Monadnocak is the most or second most hiked mountain in the world depending on who you talk to, check it out on wikipedia: Mount Monadnock - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I was born in Keene, grew up in Keene and Swanzee, then moved to New London, NH.
I currently live in Las Vegas.
But anyway, just hearing "pumpkin festival" brings back sooo many memories. I just went back to NH for the Hopkinton State Fair, maybe i should have waited a few weeks and hit the pumpkin fest!
Yeah I was there for college from 94-98 and had some great times. I wish I could get up there more often. I really miss hiking Monadnock, the surry dam and some good mt. biking.
