I'm from Jersey, been in Texas for about 10 years... Can't wait to get back to NJ for the shore... I sure do miss Seaside.. there is no boardwalk like it anywhere else...

Since you're going cross country...

Hello, You have to visit the "Crossroads of the Revolution" on a cross country trip. Visit Van Saun County Park in Bergen County (near NYC) and see Washington Springs. During the Retreat-the better part of the Battle of Long Island-the Continental Army-OUR Continental Army-stopped there for water. We used to go down to the source, which is in plain sight, and sip the water. Then go to the southern MOST point of the Palisades Interstate Park for the BEST view of the HUGE GW Bridge. The Shore is great if you like shores. +1 for the Deleware Water gap. Those little sleepy towns at river level are cool. Just like anywhere else, you have to get off the highways. The "grasslands" of the southern part of the state are exceptional if you're there during the Springtime. Some people love Atlantic City casinos. I'm not one of them. Take the Lewis, Deleware to Cape May ferry-go to AC or not-and cut across the grasslands to get to Phillie. There's more Kira

one good thing about jersey your not to far from anything....within a couple of mins to hrs you can be in the mountains skiing or down at the beach swimming or out in the forest hunting...nj is one of the most diverst state to live in....to think if you go north to south its almost like two different cultures exist in this state...one feels like you out west. large pieces of land and layed back attitude...then u go north its fast pace and closer together....thats y i love this state...

We live in TN, but have family and vacation in Wildwood NJ. Cape May is a quick drive south. Both are a great vacation spot.

NJ variety

NJ has tremendous variety and all within a couple hours travel time...Beaches, mountains, hiking, skiing, offroad, NYCity, symphonies, opera, dance, comedy clubs, and FOOD!
The absolute best tomatos and Pizza. When there's a pizza place just about on every corner it creates competition and you better be good to stay in biz. Our ethnic variety means you can get any type of food that scratches your itch.
And with all that comes the downside...I forget who said it...but we have the best politicians money can buy.
