My Favorite New Orleans Food: Roast Beef PoBoys

In my opinion, you havent experienced New Orleans food until you've a proper one of these babies. If you're not covered in gravy by the end of it, you're doing it wrong.

My favorite places to get these: Parkway Tavern and Bakery and Radosta's (It's in Metairie, 5 minutes outside the city).

I'm in Austin, TX for school right now and it is killing me to be away from these things. Add swish cheese too.

Mandina's on Canal St is a favorite of mine for Roast Beef Poboys, probably because it was the first place I had one when I moved here.

I'm not from NO, but just got back from spending a couple of days down there. And I can honestly say that I wasn't a fan of the Poboys. Guess it's one of those local preferences... like Hot Browns up here in Kentucky.

Here's another vote for Mothers! After seeing the hole-in-the-wall advertised on the Food Network we couldn't pass up stopping for breakfast while in the area. AWESOME food and AWESOME service!

Parkway gets my vote. Just needs a little Crystal hot sauce to make the salt/spice balance correct.

Twelve hours of cooking on each batch: what could be wrong with that?

flanigans suck in south FL.
just sayin.
but poboys are the ****.
on my way through mississippi i stopped at a hole in the wall joint and had one.
yaknow, the kind of place whos only beverage option is sweet tea.
anyway, when i moved to south fl i went to "BB Kings"
and i meen, on one hand, there arent many places where you can get fried pickles on the menu. but their poboy sammich (the entire sammich) weighed less then a quarter pound.
needless to say, after stuffing a one pound plus southern poboy into my face, this tourist friendly, cheep impostor wasnt very impressive.
