Yah, when you think about new orleans thai isn't the first food venue coming to mind. that having said i had some of the best thai food ever at Sukhothai. it's located on Royal and well worth the visit. get the cashew chicken and you won't leave disappointed.

what are some unusual crowd pleasers?

One opened up near me on Magazine. Its pretty good.

Can't remember the name but there is a place off Poydras near the Le Pavillon Hotel.

If you're on the northshore, there is a good Thai restaraunt in Covington called Thai Spice. It's on 190.
