Born and raised in Western NY - living in Michigan for past 20 years.
All my family is still in NY - try to visit a couple times a year.
Have to stop at PA border and store my pistol before entering NY.
Would love to move back for a few years - but NY is too nannied.
Still miss it though.

Yes there are different groups, but I know for a fact that if you mess with us(9/11 for an example) we pull together pretty tight.
Liberal,Conservative,Democrat,Republican,Upstate, Downstate,Highrise or Cardboard condo.It doesn't matter.
As messed up as this state is I am still proud to say that I'm a native NY'er.

Born in the bronx, grew up in the hudson valley, can't wait to leave the state when I retire. You get taxed up the ..... here. Freedoms are quite restricted. But I can't beat the salary for a teacher. It makes a huge difference when you retire and move to a cheaper state.

Still love the Yankees though. Shame what they are doing to Jeter.
