If you go to Long Island you got Fire Island (great bars, restaurants and atmosphere), Hamptons on the south fork and you have plenty of wineries on both the North and SOuth Fork. My wife and I spend a vacation about once every 3 years out on the eastern part of Long Island and we live on Long Island.

We have a little bit of everything people like. There's American history that happen throughout many parts of the state, tons of outdoor activities from hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, rock climbing, boating, you name it. Many museums coving just about everything there is. Many family geared things as well. The list is really endless.

The Adirondack park is the largest contigious public land in the nation, bigger that yellow stone and Yosemiti combined! Add the Catskill Mountain Park and you have more public land than you can imagine. Or if your more into the urban stuff, New York City has more that you can ever do in a week, let alone a day or two. Broadway, Ellis Island/ Statue of Liberty, more museums that you can count. On the other side of the state is the Great Lakes, Niagra falls, and the finger lakes. The Finger Lakes and the Hudson Valley both have great wineries, you could do a wine tour. I could go on and on, but I hopefully you are starting to get the idea.
