What to do in Cooperstown?

Heading out to cooperstown in a couple weeks for a couple days, we are going to Baseball hall of fame. What other fun things are there to do out that way for a family with a 7 year old boy?

Brewery Ommegang is worth a visit. If you're really into craft beer, the Cooperstown brewery is down the road a few minutes in Milford (Really small, but its too close to everything to skip if you're into beer.) Its tough in the winter because its kind of a seasonal town. The small rail line doesn't run in the winter. Theres a nice park down the street from the hall of fame right on the lake, but again, probably too cold/snowy. Check out the Visitors Guide (its 2010, they haven't released the 2011 yet).

Also google their chamber of commerce for local art events.

this time of yr, not much, you may be able to rent a snowmobile and give him some rides or take him snow tubing up there, other than that, nothing to do but spend money, buy some good baseball cards for big bucks, then find out the player is on steriods and the card is worthless,

Winter is rough here in Cooperstown, unfortunately. Everything is closed up, and the weather this year has been unpredictable at best. During the summer there is a lot to see. The Farmer's Museum would be great for your son, along with fishing off Council Rock.
