NC Guns laws

Hello,

We are thinking of relocating to someplace that does not get snow 9 (sometimes 10!) months of the year! North Carolina is on top of our list, how restrictive are the gun laws in NC? Is it difficult to find places to shoot? I am just begining to compete in IPSC matches and want to continue.

Thanks

NC allows CC should you be legal (conceal carry}
NC has shooting matchs
NC doesn't have (piedmont) lots of snow. A little snow; will shut down NC lolol
NC has ?open carry? 'be very careful with this answer
NC doesn't have a ''Castle Law"

Camping

Beach
mostly decent folk
farm land ( mostly rented by deer hunters }

NC is a great place to relocate to.

Fairly decent gun laws, but needs to be tweeked to our US Constitution, LOL.
Western NC has more snow, but is more beautiful than the eastern side
of the state.

NC has a lot going for it. Gun laws are not bad but still not what should be allowed per the second ammendment. Vermont is a beautiful state but unfortunately has too many statists for my taste. NC also has its share of liberals who would love to deny you of your second ammendment rights although not as many as Vermont.

NC has pretty decent gun laws..I am a FFL holder and deal with the state laws more than someone who doesn't have a FFL. The only additional requirement in NC is when purchasing a handgun. You are required to obtain a permit from the local Sheriff's Dept. for this unless you hold a valid Concealed Carry Permit. (money making scheme)

There are plenty of ranges throughout the state and lots of open land for long range shooting (with land owner's permission of course). All in all a great place to live for sportsmen/women of all ages.

I'm not a fan of the laws here, with having to buy permits and all. I much prefer back in va where its not so strict.

Places to shoot

I live in Cary, NC. The following ranges in my vicinity:

Wake County Firearms Education and Training Center. It is an indoor shooting range that is used primarily by local law enforcement and available to the public after 6 PM weekdays and noon to 6PM on the weekends. It has 3 bays 2 of which are mostly for handgun with one bay for rifle (100 yards). You must attend a safety class and pass a test to use the range. The fee to use the range is $15/hour with ammo for sale and accessories for rent at reasonable prices.

Sir Walter Gun Club, located in Creedmoor, NC has 4 outdoor shooting bays. It has limited membership and is somewhat expensive.

NC Durham Pistol & Rifle Club that caters mostly to skeet shooting.

Various 25 yard pistol ranges mostly provided by gun shops.

There are other ranges around the state but I haven't researched them.

NC Firearm Laws

For a well written understanding with ''applicable''

remove doubt; read the law; as it is; and is changing. Always check the dating on any of these informantion pieces. ''yes'' I worded; a particular way.
Be careful,

NC Firearms Law

Grass Roots NC,
I have to agree with this 100% ! Laws are constantly changing and it's always best to stay abreast..as far as state laws are concerned probably a good source of information would be a local gun shop..they HAVE to stay up on the laws !
