If you do end up on the East side, hit up
Carolina Beach, and seek out Britt's Donuts.
They also have the USS North Carolina Battleship
where you can do a self tour. It's pretty cool, I
think you can go down 3 ~ 4 decks.

I've vacationed in Emerald Isle since the early '80s - very quiet place, clean beaches, DIRT-CHEAP rentals....nice place to go when you want to do nothing

I live in Wilson, NC and I'm 2 hours from the coast and 3.5 hours from the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have 2 of the best BBQ resturants in NC along with antiques, and the NC Baseball museum.

North Carolina has Hwy 12 along the Outer Banks, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and of course Carolina Girls!
