Sport Shooting in NC

An awesome benefit of living in NC is the ability to get involved with the different gun ranges and shooting events. All across the State I have friends who participate in everything from a Saturday of target practice to day-long training sessions that just aren't available in some places.

I frequent the Sportsman's Lodge on Dinkins Bottom Road. If you are interested in learning about firearms, or want to get a CCW permit, it's a great place to go.

Anyone know of other gun ranges in "the area?"

Uwharrie National Forest has a gun range. It's wonderful and it's only a few dollars a day. Unfortunately this year it is out of service due to some issues.

I loved going up there. They have a rifle range and a pistol range.

Hope it comes back up soon!

I am currently looking at getting a license to carry.
But I am not sure what firearm to get though.

There is a nice free open range, just across the SC boarder at the state park in Chester. Its a nice place to go send a few rounds down-range

Mossy Gap range in Cullowhee is a great little range. Its got 6 different ranges from 10 ft out to about 150 ft. Doesn't cost a thing except the gas to get there.
