Any preppers here?

Just curious. It's not all SHTF paranoia...just some common sense stuff to see you through a tough time, whether it's a storm, or losing a job, or an unexpected expense, or a zombie apocalypse.

So...anyone do food storage? Water purification? Dehydrating/canning?

I keep a month's supply of food and water on hand at the house. I also keep a BOB in my Jeep with fire starter kits, water purification tablets, empty containers, and a couple of days worth of food in bars and hard candy. Aside from that I carry a multitool everywhere I go.

I have a bug out kit in a large duffle with food, water, water purification/storage, first aid, fire equipment, etc. It's my grab and go bag. The food are 5yr bars (I believe) from QuakeCare Co. They taste like a really dry lemon cake, but suposedly one bar is 2400 calories. Cool stuff anyway. I also have that "waterbob" thing for the tub I bought from cheaper than dirt.

My house in Indiana was formerly owned by a Mormon family who built a fairly large garden shed and made half of it a climate controlled food storage vault. We typically kept about a months worth of everything in it and still was only 1/8th full.. Because of the climate control the shed was wired for 220v and I was able to power my house very quietly from my generator out in the garden part of the shed..

Always have a GHB in both my Jeep and my wife's car made up of seasonally relevant items.

My new house is near a Nuke plant so my focus is now changing from getting home to GTFO of town..

I have a generator that will run my whole house, still that I can purify water in, about 1,200 bottles of wine and 3 kegs of beer on tap. Maybe I should also put some food down there though! Hehehehe
