Eating Dinner with History

If you could sit down and eat one meal with any historical figure alive or dead, what would you have and who would you have it with.

Hermann Hesse. Bratwurst and a garden salad.

for extra credit, turn it into a date and add which movie you would go see after dinner.

Barry Lindon. I think he would appreciate the storytelling of that movie.

For me, it would be Abraham Lincoln. I'd ask Mary to cook us a fried chicken dinner, and round off the evening watching "The Autobiography of John Wilkes Booth", which obviously included Booth's death. And if I was there with Lincoln watching this, this means he would not have been killed and the course of history would be changed forever.

Deep, huh?

For me it would be the general George S Patton, Jr.
We would have a hamburger at the DQ up on Chiriaco Summit, before climbing in an old Willys MB and cruising around the desert. We would visit his memorial museum there.

That is a great place to take a break from the mundane drive across the desert!

Nietzsche or Trotsky. Both were big historical influences in their day.

"Without music, life would be a mistake."
? Friedrich Nietzsche (Twilight of the Idols)

"That which does not kill us makes us stronger."
? Friedrich Nietzsche

"It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages."
? Friedrich Nietzsche

"I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you."
? Friedrich Nietzsche

"It is hard enough to remember my opinions, without also remembering my reasons for them!"
? Friedrich Nietzsche

"If the leaders seek only to preserve themselves, that is what they become; preserves, dried preserves."
-- Leon Trotsky

"Such categories as ?commodity?, ?money?, ?wages?, ?capital?, ?profit?, ?tax?, and the like are only semi-mystical reflections in men?s heads of the various aspects of a process of economy which they do not understand and which is not under their control. To decipher them, a thoroughgoing scientific analysis is indispensable."
-- Leon Trotsky

"The end may justify the means as long as there is something that justifies the end."
? Leon Trotsky

"You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you."
? Leon Trotsky

"Let a man find himself, in distinction from others, on top of two wheels with a chain - at least in a poor country like Russia - and his vanity begins to swell out like his tires. In America it takes an automobile to produce this effect. "
? Leon Trotsky

Answer the question Blucher. Partial answers don't fly .

I would have lunch with Phoebe Ann Mosey (aka Annie Oakley). Hickory grilled buffalo burgers with a wild western salad.

After lunch we would put on our shades, go out for some some shooters, and then go to her place to watch Hidalgo.

Les Claypool - Some brownies or mushroom milkshake.

With Jimi - A moldy loaf of rye bread would be good

Na, he's too smart for my britches. I'd probably be doing a lot of "huh" and "WTF are you talking about!"
