Fried Birds are only “Streamers”

So say workers at the Mojave Desert solar farm outside Vegas for the smoke from birds caught in the intense heat of mirrors. No big deal. After all, Green Power is far more important than migratory routes or the extinction of bird species.

Looks more like a wind farm to me than a solar generating station. The picture also looks rather contrived to make some point.
As for birds? if it comes down to me having electricity or a birds life, Sorry bird..

There was no picture with the article so I did a Bing search for an image to make the point. Another report indicated birds are fried at the Ivanpah plant every two mintes and the biggest maintenance problem is removing the carcasses.

I had not heard of it frying birds, but several hundred bald eagles die in the turbines yearly.

Not sure what your point is iv, the link seems to delight in using terms like warmists and extreme leftists and doesnt really say much more than an attempt to implicate said leftists as responsible for bird deaths at the site..
IMO any method we use for power generation will impact the environment in a big way,its just an unfortunate consequence of mans need for power.

IMHO, too many are so concerned with "environment change" that they go into a variety of Green activities without thinking abut the overall impact.

As an example - ethanol and other biomass fuels. They require sources that are often important part of the food change - for humans and animals. With those sources converted into fuels, it causes shortages which are reflected in food shortages and higher prices. They generally don't affect developed nations but leave the poor and underpriveleged in a real bind,

Acres and acres of solar panels, even in the desert, have a serious impact on the local environment - making changes that we don't understand the overall shock of. Birds killed by the focused solar rays are but one part of that understood result.

My point is simply that drilling and refining petroleum products has never produced this kind of results.

You have a short memory when it comes to oil spills and the ramifications of transporting the stuff, case in point the local story (Lac Megantic)of a runaway train transporting oil,end result 47 dead.

The BP disaster. the Exxon Valdis.Etc=

Also this solar arrays construction had nothing to do with environmentalists it was built by private enterprise.

iv i cant believe you would prefer belching smoke stacks

Over solar,wind or hydro power.
