Gifts at Weddings

My cousin is getting married.

He "eloped", had a small wedding so his MIL could watch her daughter be married before she passed, which she did unfortunately.

So this is a reception, and a reception only, with no directive for gifts and no registry note, my wife and I were debating should we take something?

I don't know what to do here.

I would say YES, better to take something than the wish you had, leave it in the car in case no on else brings something and say, "I forgot it in the car, be right back!" if they do. If not use it yourself or get your money back but both bases are covered.

Good call. I now have three days to decide what to get them and no inclination as to what they need.

Everyone like cash. It's impersonal but very practical.

I'm thinking that's the direction I would have to take.

I don't want to buy them something they don't need.
