Hats

It's getting to that time of year that hats are a necessary evil, at least as far as I'm concerned. I don't like hats but because of the thinning landscape they serve the purpose of keeping my head warm. I have 3, here's one.

I only have three hats as well. A Tilley for when I'm burning in the sun, a 50 year old merino wool balaclava for when it gets cold, and a wolf fur Elmer Fudd for when it's really arctic.

I rarely wear them because I'm susceptible to hat head.

I consistently wear at least 5 different hats. I have a nice Cat hat I wear to work, an alternate Cat hat for days I want to be different, a nasty, ratty Cat hat that used to be my work hat and now is just my comfortable all around hat, my Phillies hat that I wear during the baseball season, and a nice Guiness Jaunty Cap that I wear when I got out to dinner, or to a movie or anything. That isn't counting the other 10 or so baseball caps I wear randomly from time to time...

Looking at it now, I think I might have a problem...

Hat 2. As much as I dislike wearing hats I do have a favorite. I'll post that one tomorrow.

Hat 3. I hate hats but this is my favorite. Needs to be cleaned and blocked, the crease is crooked, crushed from sitting in storage.

Sideways, I love felt hats. I currently working one right now. You can use cornered/edge pieces to press in the hat then steam it so it regains it's shape some, I know that blocks can be expensive! I think you can find the stiffener to help keep its shape online somewhere.

Wool Felt Hoods & Capelines is where I get mine

Thanks for the tip and the link. What you see in the pic is the hat coming out of storage. Winter is the only time I wear a hat and this one looks good when I wear my black leather jacket. Every guy should have a black leather jacket for winter.
