Iirc there is an unidentified species of dog/wolf/w/e like that they've identified in Mexico that they've attributed a lot of so called Chubicabra sightings and incidents to. Vaguely remember seeing something on Discovery about it and how it's genetically similar to dogs and such but doesn't match anything we know of.

I'm going to point out again, the link, and the fact their aren't many foxes in Texas.

I pulled up Coyote with Mange in my search and here's what I got......hope this helps a little in identifying your creature.
