question about redwoods

If you planted a redwood or sequoia seed today, could the tree theoretically still be living 1,000 years from now, like the trees currently in national parks?
This is a silly question I've wondered about from time to time, and don't really know where to look for an answer.

I don't see why not. As long as the soil, weather, and other conditions are right.
