By that mapped route, you can pick up a lot of time zooming through the midwest, where it's flat and straight. You might consider spending a day
going north when in Wyoming to hit Yellowstone, you'll be fairly close anyway.

The time of year i'm going to be taking this trip the roads up north will be pretty bad, and there are several "seasonal roads" that i would be travelling that will be closed...

My son went to Yellowstone from Seattle in January, the roads were Ok with 4x4 but you couldn't see much and nothing was open. I would expect it to be OK as early as you are going. We used to go to lake Tahoe every year in October and never saw snow.

right now yellowstone is closed. there is one road on the west side of the park that goes north just inside the boarder, but the rest of the park is snowed in. if he is going through in november, he should be ok. the snow this year is well beyond the norm...

That looks like a great adventure!

Wrong side of the country for any help here, sorry.

Before you leave, post up your list of essentials, and we can go over it and make suggestions/give you ideas...

When planning a trip of this length, it's easy to forget something, good luck, it sure looks like a fun trip.

I wanted to go to Yellowstone, but i'll be driving some sort of FWD car and i don't need to take chances getting stuck somewhere... I'll have to plan a summer trip there.

krutj. i know what you mean... I forget stuff on trip across town...
