Yes Alex … May, when it is more raining, here in the field there are too much snails – Gypsies collect these ones having shells (carapaces?) - 2 kinds of them – white and black - and export to Italy …

I love them. I wish I could get them fresh. The majority that make here are canned.

About the snail meal now ? I have heard from my grandma that in the hungry years during the IIWW they boiled them with spinach and some other plants like it. Of first they put snails in a corn flower for 24 hours, so the sand in it to be parted. A delicious meal was if there was a little rice ? after boiling 2-3 hours the snails were cut in small peaces and baked with butter or sunflower oil.

The dish in the photo was prepared by one my friend. He boiled snails for 2 hours, after fried them in butter adding black pepper, fresh onion and a specific plant I can not find in my dictionaries ? mint maybe, I am not sure in this word. But he did not know to leave them in a flower for 24 hours, so there were peaces of sand in it.

I can say it is not possible to eat more than 5-6 snails ? it is a heavy meal and the consistence of it was just like a rubber ? Never mind, for surviving it is perfect.

Nice to see almost all the company in the pub ... but Alex .... he is on the furrow ... and Pathric ... obviously in Canada today is a heavy work day ...

I do not remember if I have mentioned it here, but if it is the third day you do not want to work – it mean it is Wednesday …

Cheers BOYS !!!

Good day gents, as far as eating goes I, myself will try just about anything and have had over the years. Oysters are good, clams, well to me they taste muddy. One of the best dishes I have had was a alligator gumbo when I was in South Carolina boy was that tasty. Blackened catfish is good too.
A fettachini with a spicy Italian sausage sliced into the marinaro sauce with garlic bread. Hmmm all this talk of food is making me hungry.

I'm here, but sometimes I actually have to do some work.
Escargot means snails in French.

I don't even bother ordering them in restaurants anymore.

Even my kids love them.
