Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area

Just south of Florence is the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Not only one of the most spectacular dune formations, is is a recreational paradise for those who love to play in the sand!

Got Sand?

I always liked going to Florence when I was growing up but liked Coose Bay a little better. Much bigger dune area and bigger dunes.

Some 70's pic's

My Dad in the white and yellowish and Uncle in the green Jeep.

Great pics! Thanks! /Looks like you've been scanning from 35mm slides? What equipment are you using to copy them?

I live in Coos Bay and ride the dunes every chance I get on my YFZ450. I will take some pics next time I am out and post them.

The dunes are great. We visit my grandma down there every 4th of July and we go to Winchester Bay for the fireworks show. It's a fun vacation. Last year I took my 2 year old son for a ride in a rented Polarais RZR.

Not many people can recall the days before three wheelers and quads in the dunes.
We just about had it all to ourselves in those days. I had a 1962 Scout, steel half hard top convertible, and open bed. My good friend Joe had a white VW baha rig.
Then there was the Wild horse we would see from time to time.
Thanks for the memories.
