Looking for a good inflatable Kayak that wont break the bank

We love to camp around the water, but we have limited space in the back of the Jeep, and we have a soft top so no roof mount. Any ideas will be appreciated.

If you can afford it a Folbot is the way to go. Been around since I was a kid 35 years ago and still going strong. They must be doing something right.

When I think inflatable I think raft. What's the difference between an inflatable kayak and raft?

Kayak is more like a canoe than a raft. much more maneuverable even more so than a canoe.

Unfortunately most inflatables are like trying to paddle a inter tube.

Bic makes a new one that has a ridged bottom section. I think they are in the $700 to $1000 range. Bic also makes a foldable one.

My friend has a Folbot that he absolutely loves, he can fit it in his motorcycle trailer along with enough stuff for a weeks worth of camping.

I have a Perception Patriot 12' Kayak, great kayak but the seat gets to me after a few hours.

Check out Bic kayaks

I've always wanted a Folbot ever since I was a kid. I love kayaks and have been out on the ocean and in some big lakes with them, but always just ended up owning a canoe for the versatility.

My Dad has two Advanced Elements, they have been absolutley awsome. He takes them down river, to lakes, and out to the bay when he comes to visit in Washington. I think you can get them between $300 and $400.

All I can say is I would NOT want to paddle an inflatable.
Take a real canoe or kayak for a paddle and you'll agree immediately.
These were about 350 a piece (but I'm sure they were bought on sale) and they are great for general use and abuse.

You need to find a real cheap hardtop to slap on the Jeep for when you want to cart stuff like that around.

The only real time I have spent in a kayak was an inflatable. I must say that I really enjoyed it and hope to get myself a kayak soon. But after reading more about kayaks, I can see that it was indeed a bit on the sluggish and unresponsive side. they are also very difficulty to roll back over.
